Pride & Prejudice: Reviews
Please write your
review, best bits, worst bits, marks out of 10, number of stars out of
5... you know the sort of thing.
Town and county
too, please.
Saw it Friday 16th
@ Taunton, Somerset about 25 miles away from where I live. Go and see this
film - it is absolutely fabulous. The ultimate compliment for this film
is that my partner enjoyed it!! He was dragged along to see this
much against his better judgement and had sung nothing but praise ever
since. Superb casting, Lizzie/Keira at her best, Darcy/Matthew just right
as brooding Darcy who grows on you. The rest - brilliant, Mr B/Donald just
right. Mrs B/Brenda B perfect casting. Lady C/Judi D stately, imposing,
perfect. The sisters all very well done. Mr Collins/ Tom H,
a real scene stealer, brilliant. A perfect mix.
Cinematography perfect,
earthly, realistic as life should be. Settings/locations what a lovely
mix, all will be top tourist attractions next year!!
Adaptation of the
book is very well done @ 127 mins covers all the novel well, little things
moved about but does not detract from the story.
I think I will have
to see it again just to check out the finer details. Don't compare this
film to 1995 TV version, both are very fine pieces of work.
Go, See, Enjoy.

REVIEW BY ADAM REED
I saw Keira in Pride and Prejudice last night. I thought she was excellent in the role. Her facial expression was spot on and the performance as a whole managed to convey Elizabeth's spiritedness and changing feelings towards Mr Darcy. She combined maturity with a sense of fun and worked well with the other cast members.
Matthew Macfadyen was also brilliant and I would say he was every bit as good as Colin Firth in the role. He was aloof at first, but not too haughty, which is just how the part should be played. He certainly smouldered in the part and made it his own.
The rest of the cast did really well. You really got a sense of the Bennets as a close knit family and Elizabeth's relationship with Jane was portrayed well. Judi Dench, Brenda Blethyn and Donald Sutherland were excellent as ever.
